Battery Life Calculator
Predict how long a radio will run on a given battery using a weighted current draw model.
01
Tool
Average current280.0 mA
Estimated runtime6.07 h (364 min)
Energy used14.80 Wh
02
How it works
Average current = TX% × I_tx + RX% × I_rx + Standby% × I_standby. Runtime (h) ≈ (Battery mAh × derating) / Average current (mA). A derating factor of 0.85 accounts for Peukert losses and voltage sag at end of discharge.
03
How to use
- Enter battery capacity (mAh) and nominal voltage.
- Enter TX, RX, and standby current draw (see your radio manual).
- Set duty cycle percentages so they total 100%.
- Read the estimated runtime and total energy consumed.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I find these current numbers?
Your radio's specification sheet lists TX current at high/low power and standby draw.
Why is my real runtime shorter?
Cold weather, aged cells, and higher-than-rated TX duty can all reduce actual life. The 0.85 derate is a starting point.
